Personal Reflection:

Throughout my clinical experiences I have seen firsthand what it means to be a professional nurse.  I have always tried to maintain my perception of what a professional nurse should be based on these experiences. Your interactions with your patient and also your coworkers play an important part in the quality of care you give. I will continue to build and work on the skills I have been taught in my nursing education to become the best possible nurse I can be.

Personal Goals:

  • Within a year or two following graduation, I want to be commissioned officer, and potentially follow a path in the United States Army Nurse Corps.
  • Within five years of graduation, I want to be working on a Medical-Surgical unit, oncology unit, or palliative care unit and working towards my Master’s Degree.
  • I also have an interest in working as a Community Health Nurse and to one day become a Nursing Instructor to teach future nurses.

Personal Experience:

I have spent over 14 amazing years pursuing an Army career, working as both a Personnel Administrative Manager and a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives (CBRNE) Manager as my primary jobs, and have recently changed my position to become and Army Reenlistment Career Counselor. I also have many secondary duties such as weight control NCO, DARNs NCO (Duty Appointed Retention NCO), and UPL (Unit Prevention Leader).

In 2002 I enlisted in the Army and had the amazing opportunity of moving to Germany after basic training and Advance Individual training. I deployed to Iraq in 2003 and returned in 2004. I relocated to Fort Stewart Georgia in 2006, where I again deployed in late 2007 and returned in 2009. I have held many positions in the Army from Team leader, Squad leader, PAC NCOIC, Battalion Admin NCOIC, and Brigade Admin NCO. My previous position has been working as an Administrative NCO while conducting CBRNE support for the Battalion and a position as an instructor to units that trains Service Members that will be deploying. My current position as an ARCC allows me the chance to help the Army retain Soldiers in the Military. My travels have taken me all over the world, and I am very thankful for the opportunities the Army has given me, because I wouldn't be where I am today without it.
